“THE ACCOUNTANT 2”: SXSW PROMO

Here is a fun little teaser promo for the upcoming film “The Accountant 2” starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. I don’t often work on trailers and promos but they can be a fun break from the routine when I get a chance.

For the sake of clarity I did NOT music supervise this movie. That was done by the ledgendary Julua Michels. But I did music supervise this promo in collaboration with Clearly Music Services and my good friend and regular creative partner Jonathan Lane as a part of the the MGM SXSW premiere marketing for the film.

The spot is a classic “buddy road trip” trope so we needed something with an evergreen sound. The Brenton Wood staple “The Oogum Boogum Song” fit the bill here perfectly. It was a bit of a hail Mary pitch given that we got this assignment at 7pm on a Thursday and needed clearable options by 9am the next day in time for the shoot.

We scrambled about 10 potential options but this one was my first pull and always my favorte and aparently it was Ben and Jon’s as well since they played it on set for the shoot. So we pulled the trigger after a few days of friendly negotiations with the label and now here it is…
